Real Sociedad vs Atletico Madrid

Atletico Madrid made the trip to the Reale Arena on Sunday, 13 September 2026 and left with a comfortable 0-3 win over Real Sociedad. The first half gave little hint of what was coming, with the teams going in level at 0-0 after an hour of football that never really sparked into life. Whatever was said at the break clearly did the trick, because the visitors came out transformed. Atletico took control after the restart and simply never let go, putting three goals past a Real Sociedad side that had no answers once the floodgates opened. It's the kind of result that will sting at home, a team outclassed in their own stadium after holding firm for 45 minutes. For Atletico, three away points in La Liga and a clean sheet to boot. For Real Sociedad, a long week of questions about why the second half fell apart so completely.

Even without the extra share of possession, which finished 54% in favour of Real Sociedad, Atletico Madrid made the most of the chances that mattered and did enough to see the game out. The shot count told a similar story, with 8 attempts from Real Sociedad against 13 from Atletico Madrid over the course of the game. Real Sociedad had their moments and did not make it easy from start to finish, but ultimately came up short on the day. Here is a closer look at exactly how the two sides compared, statistically.
