About Leeds United FC
Leeds United was founded in 1919 and has called Elland Road home ever since. The club emerged during a period of significant growth in English football, and over the decades developed into one of the country's major forces. There's a particular identity to Leeds football—a certain intensity that's defined the club across generations.
The trophy cabinet tells the story of sustained success across different eras. Leeds won three English top-flight titles: in 1968-69, 1973-74, and 1991-92. They lifted the FA Cup once, in 1972, and claimed the League Cup in 1968. European competition brought further silverware, with two Inter-Cities Fairs Cup victories in 1968 and 1971. The club also won the FA Charity Shield twice, in 1969 and 1992. These honours, spread across the club's history, demonstrate periods of genuine excellence rather than a single golden era.
Like most football clubs, Leeds has experienced highs and lows. But the consistency of achievement across several decades—particularly the 1960s and early 1970s, and again in the early 1990s—established them as a genuine heavyweight of English football.
Head Coach
D. Farke
Daniel Farke took charge at Leeds United in July 2023, arriving from Borussia Mönchladbach where he had spent the previous season. The German manager comes with the task of steering the club back towards the Premier League after their recent struggles.
