Real Racing Club de Santander has been part of the fabric of this Cantabrian city since 1913. Playing their home matches at Campos de Sport de El Sardinero, the club has represented the local community through more than a century of football, with all the ups and downs that comes with it. Like many Spanish regional clubs, they've spent most of their history working their way between the various levels of the Spanish pyramid rather than establishing themselves at the top.

The club's trophy cabinet reflects a side that's had real moments of success, even if they haven't sustained a presence in the upper echelons for long stretches. They've won the Segunda División three times—in 1949-50, 1959-60, and most recently in 2025-26. Beyond that, they've claimed four titles at third-tier level or what's now known as the Primera División RFEF, winning in 1943-44, 1947-48, 1969-70, and 2021-22. Those achievements, scattered across different decades, tell the story of a club that's proven capable of winning silverware but has found it harder to build sustained periods of dominance. Still, for Santander's supporters, Racing remains an important institution in their city's sporting life.

José Alberto López

José Alberto López took over at Racing Santander in December 2022 and has delivered immediate results, guiding the club to the Segunda División title and promotion to La Liga for the 2025-26 season. The Spanish manager arrived following a spell with Málaga, where he was sacked after a heavy defeat to Ibiza.
