About Brentford FC

Brentford Football Club came into being in 1889, taking root in west London where they've remained ever since. The club spent much of their early decades as a fixture in the lower divisions, the kind of outfit that rarely grabbed headlines but always showed up on a Saturday. That changed in the early 1930s when things started to click. They won the Third Division South title in 1932-33, then backed it up with promotion to the second tier proper, where they claimed the Second Division championship in 1934-35. For a small club in that era, it was genuine success.

After that golden period, Brentford settled back into the lower reaches of the football league. They picked up another trophy in 1962-63 when they took the Fourth Division, but meaningful progress remained elusive for decades. The club never quite managed to secure a top-flight league title, the FA Cup, or the League Cup, those prizes that define the biggest clubs.

That changed dramatically in 2021 when they won the Championship play-offs, securing promotion to the Premier League for the first time in their history. It was a stunning achievement for a club that had spent so long trying to reach the promised land, and it finally brought Brentford the kind of stage their town had long deserved.

Head Coach

Keith Andrews

Keith Andrews took over as Brentford head coach in June 2025, bringing recent experience from within the club's own backroom staff. The Irish coach had worked as Brentford's set-piece specialist before his promotion, and spent time on Sheffield United's coaching team under Chris Wilder.
