About RC Celta de Vigo
RC Celta de Vigo was founded in 1923, establishing itself as one of Galicia's major football institutions. Based at the Estadio Abanca-Balaidos, the club has been woven into the fabric of life in Vigo for a century, developing a passionate local following and competing consistently in Spanish football's top divisions.
The club's trophy cabinet reflects a team that has been a strong second-tier force at various points in its history. Celta won the Segunda División on three occasions—in 1935-36, 1981-82, and 1991-92—establishing themselves as regular promotion contenders. They also claimed the Segunda División B title in 1980-81 and won the Tercera División in 1930-31. While these domestic honours show periods of genuine strength, Celta's greatest near-misses came in the Copa del Rey, where they reached the final three times, in 1947-48, 1993-94, and 2000-01, without ever lifting the trophy.
What defines Celta's identity isn't a collection of major silverware but rather their resilience and consistency as a mid-table La Liga side. They remain one of Spanish football's most respected provincial clubs, valued for their competitive spirit and the depth of support they command in their region.

Claudio Giráldez
Claudio Giráldez took over as Celta Vigo's first-team manager in 2024 after spending the previous two seasons in charge of the club's B team. The Spanish coach's promotion from within reflects the club's faith in his work with the youth setup.
