About Newcastle United FC

Newcastle United was founded in 1892 and has made St James' Park their home ever since. The club emerged during a golden era of English football, and the Tyne has been the lifeblood of the place from the very beginning. That connection between club and city runs deep—it's what keeps people coming back, generation after generation.

The early decades brought genuine success. Newcastle won four league titles between 1904 and 1927, establishing themselves as one of the country's best sides. The FA Cup proved even more fertile ground, with six victories spread across the first half of the century—1910, 1924, 1932, 1951, 1952, and 1955. That run of three cups in four years at midcentury remains a source of real pride around the place. For nearly seventy years after 1955, though, the silverware dried up almost completely. It wasn't until 2025 that Newcastle finally got their hands on another domestic trophy when they won the League Cup, beating Liverpool in the final. They've also claimed the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup in 1969 and the UEFA Intertoto Cup in 2006, along with an FA Charity Shield in 1909. The club's history is one of genuine highs and long, frustrating droughts—but that's football on the Tyne for you.
