Real Betis was founded in 1907 and has called the Estadio Benito Villamarin home for generations. The club sits in Seville, a city with a fierce football culture, and Betis has always occupied a distinct place in that landscape. They're known for an attacking style and a passionate fanbase, though their trophy cabinet tells a story of a club that has achieved moments of genuine success without ever becoming one of Spain's dominant forces.

The highlight came in 1934-35 when they won La Liga, their only league title to date. It remains a source of real pride for supporters, even now nearly 90 years on. Since then, Betis has found more consistent success in the Copa del Rey, winning it three times—in 1976-77, 2004-05, and most recently in 2021-22. They've also been prolific in the Segunda División, winning the second tier on seven occasions, most recently in 2014-15 after a spell outside the top flight.

In European competition, Betis reached the UEFA Conference League final in 2024-25, showing they can still compete at the highest levels. Whether that represents the beginning of something more sustained remains to be seen, but for a club of Betis's standing, regular European football would feel like genuine progress.

Manuel Pellegrini has been Real Betis manager since July 2020, recently committing his future to the club by signing a contract extension through 2028. The Chilean coach previously had a spell managing West Ham United between 2018 and 2019.
