Real Club Deportivo de La Coruña was founded in 1906 and has established itself as one of Galicia's most significant football institutions. Based at the Estadio Riazor, known commercially as the Abanca-Riazor, the club has carved out a considerable place in Spanish football across more than a century of competition.

The club's greatest achievement came in the 1999-2000 season when they won La Liga, claiming their one and only top-flight title. That success arrived at a time when the club was also winning consistently at other levels. They'd already captured the Copa del Rey twice, in 1995 and again in 2002, and claimed three Supercopa de España titles in 1995, 2000, and 2002. Their dominance in the second tier came earlier, with five Segunda División championships across the 1960s and into the 1970s—winning in 1962, 1964, 1966, and 1968—before adding another in 2012 during a later resurgence.

That league title in 2000 remains the pinnacle of their history, a fleeting moment at Spanish football's summit that defined a generation of supporters. Since then the club has experienced the familiar ups and downs of domestic football, but their place in La Coruña and Galicia remains secure.

Head Coach

Antonio Hidalgo

Antonio Hidalgo took over as Deportivo de La Coruña head coach in June 2025, arriving shortly after leaving SD Huesca, where he spent the previous two seasons. The Spanish manager moves to Riazor looking to rebuild the Galician club's fortunes.
