Lecce vs Roma

Roma made light work of Lecce at the Stadio Via del Mare on Monday, 31 August 2026, cruising to a 0-4 win that was effectively settled by half-time. The visitors were 3-0 up inside 45 minutes and never looked troubled after that, dominating the ball for large spells and cutting through a Lecce side that struggled to get out of its own half. Mario Hermoso was at the heart of it all, marshalling the defence with real composure while also popping up to help Roma's attacks tick over, and his display was rightly rewarded with the Man of the Match award. For Lecce, there's little to take from this one beyond a few bright moments going forward, with 3 shots on target the only real sign of resistance. Roma, by contrast, looked sharp and clinical from the off, testing the home goalkeeper repeatedly and always seeming a threat on the counter. Three points and a comfortable away day to open the campaign will do Roma's confidence no harm at all, while Lecce will need to regroup quickly before their next test.

Roma beat Lecce 0-4 at Stadio Via del Mare, and the numbers from the match back up how the game played out. Even without the extra share of possession, which finished 36% in favour of Lecce, Roma made the most of the chances that mattered and did enough to see the game out. The shot count told a similar story, with 7 attempts from Lecce against 15 from Roma over the course of the game. Lecce had their moments and did not make it easy from start to finish, but ultimately came up short on the day. Small margins like this one tend to add up over a season, and results such as this are often what separates teams in the table further down the line. Here is a closer look at exactly how the two sides compared, statistically.
