Napoli made the early running at the Franchi on Sunday, 20 September 2026 and went in at the break a goal to the good after a half where Fiorentina never really got going. The home crowd had little to shout about for long spells, and the visitors looked comfortable enough with what they had built. Fiorentina came out with more purpose after the interval and got their reward, pulling things level to make it 1-1 and give the Franchi something to cheer about. From there the game stayed scrappy and tense, neither side able to find a winner. A point each probably suits Napoli more given how in control they looked early on, while Fiorentina will take some encouragement from the fight they showed after the restart, even if it wasn't enough to find all three points.
The Matchup
It finished 1-1 between Fiorentina and Napoli at Stadio Artemio Franchi, a scoreline that summed up a game short on clear separation between the two sides. Neither team could really take control of the ball for long, with Fiorentina holding 42% possession, close enough to an even split to explain why the game never settled into one side's favour. There were spells of pressure from both teams, but not enough to turn a share of the points into all three. Days like this are part of a long season, and how each side responds in their next fixture will say plenty about their form heading forward. Here is a closer look at how the two teams compared statistically.
