Fenerbahçe dominated possession and peppered Gençlerbirliği's goal with 27 shots, but it counted for nothing in the end. The visitors had the ball for most of the match at Eryaman Stadyumu, yet found themselves undone by a side that made their chances count. Despite being camped in their own half for large stretches, Gençlerbirliği stayed dangerous on the break and edged a tight first half that ended level at 1-1. The second half told a different story. Gençlerbirliği turned the screw when it mattered most, scoring again to seal a 2-1 victory that will rank among their best results of the season. İrfan Can Eğribayat was the standout performer, his display earning him a perfect rating and proving decisive in keeping Fenerbahçe at arm's length. It's a result that'll sting for the visitors, who had every opportunity to take something from the game but couldn't finish when it counted.
The Matchup
