Trabzonspor put on a show at Papara Park on Sunday, 6 September 2026, brushing aside Gençlerbirliği with a 5-0 win that was effectively done and dusted by half-time. The home side raced into a 3-0 lead before the break, controlling the game from the first whistle and never letting their visitors settle. Gençlerbirliği simply had no answer, and the second half only added to the misery as Trabzonspor kept pushing forward and finished the job in style. For Trabzonspor, this kind of result sends a real message to the rest of the Süper Lig - a five-goal win at home is about as emphatic as it gets, and it will do wonders for confidence going forward. Gençlerbirliği, on the other hand, will need to regroup quickly after a afternoon to forget, one that exposed some serious problems that will need fixing before their next outing.
The Matchup
Trabzonspor beat Gençlerbirliği 5-0 at Papara Park, and the numbers from the match back up how the game played out. Trabzonspor also had the better share of the ball, holding 49% possession, which usually goes hand in hand with the extra control a winning side tends to show. The shot count told a similar story, with 23 attempts from Trabzonspor against 14 from Gençlerbirliği over the course of the game. Gençlerbirliği had their moments and did not make it easy from start to finish, but ultimately came up short on the day. Small margins like this one tend to add up over a season, and results such as this are often what separates teams in the table further down the line. Here is a closer look at exactly how the two sides compared, statistically.
