Schalke 04 vs Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich came away from the VELTINS-Arena with a share of the spoils but little else to show for their dominance, as Schalke held out for a goalless draw on 5 September 2026. The visitors had all the ball and all the chances that mattered, piling forward time and again, yet couldn't find a way through. Schalke sat deep, soaked up the pressure, and rode their luck when needed. It finished 0-0, and the hosts will take it as a point earned the hard way. Joshua Kimmich pulled the strings from midfield all afternoon, picking passes and driving Bayern's attacks even when the final touch let them down. He picked up the Man of the Match award for his efforts, though it came in a losing battle against a stubborn home defence. Eleven corners and a string of shots came to nothing for Bayern, who will be frustrated not to have turned control into goals. For Schalke, a clean sheet against the league's big spenders counts as a job well done.

Schalke 04 and Bayern Munich drew 0-0 at VELTINS-Arena, in a game that could easily have finished either way. Neither team could really take control of the ball for long, with Schalke 04 holding 17% possession, close enough to an even split to explain why the game never settled into one side's favour. Both sides had spells on top without ever pulling clear, and the shot count on the day backs up just how tight things were. A draw is rarely the result either team sets out to get, but on this occasion it was a fair reflection of ninety minutes where chances were shared roughly evenly. Below is a closer look at exactly how the numbers from the match broke down.
