Feyenoord left the Goffertstadion with a 1-3 win that looked unlikely for long spells on Saturday, 5 September 2026. NEC had the better of a goalless first half, working the ball around patiently and dominating territory, but couldn't turn that control into anything clear-cut. Feyenoord sat in, absorbed the pressure, and waited for their moment. It came after the break, and once the visitors found their rhythm, the game shifted quickly in their favour. Zechiël was at the heart of it all, picking up the man of the match award with a rating of 9.35 that tells its own story. NEC finished with more of the ball and more corners, but Feyenoord made their six shots on target count where it mattered. For NEC, it's a result that will sting given how much of the game they controlled. For Feyenoord, three away points and a statement that they can win ugly when they need to.
The Matchup
NEC Nijmegen 1-3 Feyenoord was the final score at Goffertstadion, in a game where Feyenoord did enough across the ninety minutes to deserve the three points. Even without the extra share of possession, which finished 62% in favour of NEC Nijmegen, Feyenoord made the most of the chances that mattered and did enough to see the game out. The shot count told a similar story, with 12 attempts from NEC Nijmegen against 11 from Feyenoord over the course of the game. It was not always comfortable for Feyenoord, and NEC Nijmegen pushed for a way back into the game, but the result stood. Games like this can carry real weight later in the season, so this is a scoreline worth remembering. Below is a closer look at how the match broke down, statistically.
