Cambuur made home advantage count on Saturday, 12 September 2026, seeing off NEC Nijmegen 3-0 at Cambuur Stadion in a comfortable Eredivisie win. The hosts went in front before the break and carried that single-goal cushion into the second half, when things really opened up. NEC had chances to get back into it but couldn't find a way through, and Cambuur made sure of the points with two further goals after the interval. It finished 3-0, a scoreline that flattered nobody and summed up how one-sided the second period became. For Cambuur, it's the kind of result that settles nerves early in the season and gives the squad real confidence heading into the next few fixtures. NEC, on the other hand, will need to go back to the drawing board. A flat display on the road like this is hard to take, and they'll want to put it right quickly before the gap in form becomes a habit.
The Matchup
Cambuur 3-0 NEC Nijmegen was the final score at Cambuur Stadion, in a game where Cambuur did enough across the ninety minutes to deserve the three points. Cambuur also had the better share of the ball, holding 37% possession, which usually goes hand in hand with the extra control a winning side tends to show. The shot count told a similar story, with 16 attempts from Cambuur against 10 from NEC Nijmegen over the course of the game. It was not always comfortable for Cambuur, and NEC Nijmegen pushed for a way back into the game, but the result stood. Games like this can carry real weight later in the season, so this is a scoreline worth remembering. Below is a closer look at how the match broke down, statistically.
