NEC Nijmegen and Go Ahead Eagles shared the points at the Goffertstadion on Sunday, with the game finishing 1-1 after both sides traded blows early on. The hosts found a way through first and took that lead into the break, matching the half-time score of 1-1, but the visitors weren't about to roll over. Go Ahead Eagles got themselves back on level terms, and from there neither team could find the breakthrough that would have settled things. A point each feels about right given how the afternoon unfolded. NEC will probably feel they let a lead slip, having been ahead at the interval, while Go Ahead Eagles can take plenty of heart from digging out an equaliser away from home. Neither side moves significantly in the table on the back of this one, but there was enough in this 1-1 to suggest both squads have something to build on heading into their next Eredivisie outing.
The Matchup
It finished 1-1 between NEC Nijmegen and Go Ahead Eagles at Goffertstadion, a scoreline that summed up a game short on clear separation between the two sides. Neither team could really take control of the ball for long, with NEC Nijmegen holding 46% possession, close enough to an even split to explain why the game never settled into one side's favour. There were spells of pressure from both teams, but not enough to turn a share of the points into all three. Days like this are part of a long season, and how each side responds in their next fixture will say plenty about their form heading forward. Here is a closer look at how the two teams compared statistically.
