Sporting Kansas City vs Columbus Crew

Sporting Kansas City came from behind to earn a 2-2 draw with Columbus Crew at Children's Mercy Park, though they'll probably feel they should have won it. The visitors dominated the first half and took the lead, but SKC showed real character in the second half to haul themselves back level. Manu García was the standout performer, earning the official man of the match rating, and his influence on the game proved crucial as Kansas City mounted their comeback. The home side had eight shots and forced five on target, matching Columbus's efforts in that regard, though the visitors got more of the possession. It was an entertaining encounter that swung back and forth, with neither side able to find that decisive moment to claim all three points. For Sporting, it's a point that keeps them ticking over, but on the balance of play in that second half they would have fancied nicking the win.

Sporting Kansas City and Columbus Crew drew 2-2 at Children's Mercy Park, in a game that could easily have finished either way. Neither team could really take control of the ball for long, with Sporting Kansas City holding 42% possession, close enough to an even split to explain why the game never settled into one side's favour. Both sides had spells on top without ever pulling clear, and the shot count on the day backs up just how tight things were. A draw is rarely the result either team sets out to get, but on this occasion it was a fair reflection of ninety minutes where chances were shared roughly evenly.
