Columbus Crew vs New York City FC

Columbus Crew dominated possession at ScottsMiracle-Gro Field with 59% of the ball, but it wasn't enough to stop New York City FC from claiming all three points in a 1-2 victory. The visitors went ahead before the break and held firm despite the home side's relentless pressure. Crew had 11 attempts and three corners to work with, yet only managed to find the target four times. NYCFC, meanwhile, were clinical when it mattered most, converting their chances while Nicolás Fernández pulled the strings in midfield throughout. The match was decided by fine margins. Crew's dominance in possession counted for little against a well-organized visiting side that took their opportunities ruthlessly. Four shots on target simply wasn't enough against NYCFC's five, and for all the home side's territorial control, they couldn't find the breakthrough they desperately needed. This was a frustrating afternoon for the Crew faithful—a game where they did much of the right things but came away empty-handed.
