LA Galaxy claimed a hard-fought 1-0 victory over San Jose Earthquakes at Dignity Health Sports Park, grinding out three points in a match that stayed goalless through the first half. The Earthquakes dominated possession and had far more attempts on goal, registering 22 shots to Galaxy's 10, but couldn't find a way past a resolute defense. Jakob Glesnes was immense for LA, and his performance earned him the man of the match award as he helped keep San Jose at bay despite the visitors' relentless pressure. It was a classic case of making the most of limited chances. Galaxy's 7 shots on target proved more clinical than San Jose's 5, and that clinical edge ultimately made the difference. The hosts weathered considerable spells of Earthquakes pressure and corner kicks to secure a vital win that will feel like a statement given how comprehensively they were outplayed in terms of territory and volume of attempts.
