Toronto FC had to settle for a point after New York City FC came from ahead to leave BMO Field with a 1-1 draw on Saturday, 29 August 2026. The visitors led at the break through a goal that gave them the platform to sit in and soak up pressure, and that's exactly what they did for long stretches. Toronto pushed hard after the interval, piling on 14 shots to New York's 6, six of them on target, but couldn't find a way past a stubborn away side until the equaliser finally came. For all their territory and seven corners to New York's two, Toronto will feel this one got away from them. New York City FC weathered the storm largely thanks to Nicolás Fernández, who picked up the man of the match award with an 8.2 rating for his composure at the back and on the counter. A point keeps both sides ticking along, but Toronto's home fans will wonder how they didn't leave with all three.
