Philadelphia Union ground out a 2-0 win over CF Montréal at Subaru Park on Saturday, 5 September 2026, though it took a while to get going. The first half offered little in the way of quality, with both sides cautious and the game locked at 0-0 heading into the break. Montréal actually looked the tidier of the two teams in patches, but couldn't turn that into anything meaningful on the scoreboard. Whatever was said at halftime clearly did the trick. The Union came out with more purpose after the restart and found the breakthrough, then added a second to put the game to bed. Montréal never really threatened a way back once they went behind twice. For Philadelphia, it's a result that keeps the pressure on near the top of the table, while Montréal will head home knowing a flat first-half performance ultimately cost them.
The Matchup
Philadelphia Union 2-0 CF Montréal was the final score at Subaru Park, in a game where Philadelphia Union did enough across the ninety minutes to deserve the three points. Philadelphia Union also had the better share of the ball, holding 51% possession, which usually goes hand in hand with the extra control a winning side tends to show. The shot count told a similar story, with 19 attempts from Philadelphia Union against 5 from CF Montréal over the course of the game. It was not always comfortable for Philadelphia Union, and CF Montréal pushed for a way back into the game, but the result stood. Games like this can carry real weight later in the season, so this is a scoreline worth remembering. Below is a closer look at how the match broke down, statistically.
