Burnley made the trip to Vicarage Road on Saturday 10 October 2026 and simply overwhelmed Watford from the off. The visitors were already three goals to the good by half-time, tearing into a Watford side that never looked settled at the back. There was no way back for the hosts after that, and Burnley added a fourth after the break to make it a thoroughly miserable afternoon for the home fans, the game finishing 0-4. For Watford, this is the kind of result that asks serious questions. Conceding three before the interval at home is hard to dress up, and there was little sign of a response once the second half got going. Burnley, on the other hand, will go away from Hertfordshire delighted with how comfortably they controlled things. Four goals away from home and a clean sheet to go with it is about as good as it gets, and they'll fancy building on this form in the weeks ahead while Watford will need to regroup fast.
The Matchup
Watford 0-4 Burnley was the final score at Vicarage Road, in a game where Burnley did enough across the ninety minutes to deserve the three points. It was not always comfortable for Burnley, and Watford pushed for a way back into the game, but the result stood. Games like this can carry real weight later in the season, so this is a scoreline worth remembering. Below is a closer look at how the match broke down, statistically.
